Description
Oakley Flight Deck L ski goggles for snow and overcast conditions
The Oakley Flight Deck L ski goggles with Prizm Snow Persimmon are the choice for anyone who often skis or snowboards in grey weather, snowfall or flat light. According to Oakley, the orange lens lets through 39% of light and is designed for snow and cloud. This helps you spot bumps, icy patches and transitions on the piste when everything looks white and uniform.
The matte black frame is neutral and goes with any helmet and jacket. This is the large L size of the Flight Deck, with a wide fit for an average to wide face and a generous field of view with no visible rim. The goggles are designed to work well with helmets and fit over most glasses. If your ski area is mostly sunny, choose a dark lens instead, as 39% light transmission is on the light side in bright sunshine.

Fit and size
The Flight Deck L is the large version of the Flight Deck. Oakley describes the fit as large with a wide fit: suitable for adults with an average to wide face who want the largest possible field of view. If you have a narrower face or a smaller helmet, take a look at the Flight Deck XM (medium). Bring your helmet when trying them on: the top edge of the goggles should sit flush with the helmet, without a gap on your forehead.

Frequently asked questions
Is a Persimmon lens suitable for sunny days?
Prizm Snow Persimmon lets through 39% of light and, according to Oakley, is made for snow and cloud. On a partly cloudy day that works fine, but in bright sunshine on a glacier or high in the mountains it is too light. If you mostly ski in the sun, choose a dark lens such as Prizm Snow Sapphire Iridium with 13% light transmission.
Which Flight Deck size suits me, L or XM?
Choose the Flight Deck L if you have an average to wide face and want a large field of view. The Flight Deck XM (now M) is smaller and better suited to a narrow face, women and teenagers with a smaller head, or a compact helmet. If the L presses on your cheekbones, the XM is the better size.
Does the Flight Deck L fog up quickly?
Oakley uses a dual lens with F3 anti-fog coating and triple-layer foam that wicks away moisture. This helps prevent fogging. Do not wipe the inside of the lens when it is wet, but let it dry, and do not push the goggles up onto your forehead when you are warm, as warm air then gets behind the lens.
Can I wear these ski goggles over my glasses?
Yes, with most glasses that works. The Flight Deck L has cut-outs at the temples so the arms of your glasses fit through. If you have large frames, try the goggles on at home first. If they do not fit, you can return them within 14 days.
