About the painting
Johannes Vermeer (1632-1675) worked in Delft and produced only a small number of paintings in his lifetime. Girl with a Pearl Earring remained unknown for a long time, until it was recognised at an auction in 1881. Collector A.A. des Tombe bought it for a small sum and bequeathed it to the Mauritshuis, where it has been on display since 1903. With this art cushion, you bring a piece of the Dutch Golden Age right into your living room.
